EAT RIGHT NOW® uses technology for our Good by catching us right in the middle of Cravings & Habits utilizing App-based Training. This is contextual learning, and where most programs fail when it comes to all levels of ‘addictions’ (repeated use despite adverse consequences). Rehabilitation programs take people out of their context, clean out, and attempt to get at the ‘roots’ of the behavior, but then place people right back into the environment that has all the ‘triggers’ that memory has quickly connected to behavior, and voila! we are back to the ‘Habit’ because it is being constantly reinforced.
The real changed comes in our being right in the middle of the mess so to speak. When anxiety, stress, boredom, mindless reactive habits of stress relief seeking are triggered we can utilize the short teaching modules in the App and the ‘bite-sized’ Awareness Practices, that begins to break apart the old memory of reward based learning, and put it back together with new information, (new reward), from our present real time experience versus some cognitive idea or ideal and white knuckling or trying to be good.
Through the program we come to see that these Habits are not commentary on our worthiness, but just natural biological patterns that we have trained well in. Through key elements of Awareness & Curiosity & Connection, old habits shift through directly sensing our experience, the truth of ‘Reward’ or the lack of it, and our new memory guides us to more favorable behaviors that offer us some choice rather than feeling like a slave to habit that hinders our best.
