What:

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction impacts mind, brain, body, heart, relationships—the scientific research certainly measures the positive outcomes, but the final authority is you, as expert of your own life, you can enter here to engage in the direct experience, within a safe, supportive environment, letting your life be your experiment, letting science encourage your steps, provide some incentive through evidence of healthy changes in mood/emotions, thoughts, beliefs, attention, memory, cellular repair, body regulation, relational connection—we impact the health of our entire system: Neurological, Biological, Immunological, Psychological when we engage in this thing called Mindfulness:  a practice, a presence, an attitude that Turns our Mind in a new direction to again See what allows our health to naturally arise.

Return to what is right in you; Reinform the patterns of dis-ease; and Re-member who you are beyond the immediate suffering you are experiencing.

MBSR utilizes the practical applications of Mindful awareness through sitting, walking, yoga, body scan, inquiry, and heart. We learn to slow the speed of our lives enough to see the patterns which cause us pain, and then meet what hurts with curiosity and care.

Join us to learn new coping strategies for the ongoing stresses of life, with continued support and practice, learn how to implement what you learn, into your daily pace of life, feeling renewed resilience to relate to your life as it is, as you are, with a kinder quality of attention.

Creating new habits of mind requires repetition; join us to practice together for long-lasting lifestyle shifts for well-being.

Stress is a part of our being human, whether it breaks or stretches us is dependent upon how we relate to the circumstances of our life. Mindfulness is not some esoteric special state to achieve, but a natural simple ability within each of us to attend to our lives with a quality of Awareness which includes all of our experience with care. With this Awareness we can expand our capacity to bear and our ability to respond and to re-member our inherent health.

Resilience: to grow in seemingly adverse conditions, like the new life emerging from this dead tree trunk, discovering what lies beneath our difficulties, growing our capacity

Mindfulness is simple but not so easy. It takes our courage—a full-hearted commitment to learn how to cultivate a new habit of our Mind’s direction, which may have gotten entrenched in our limited focus of attention on what is perceived as something wrong with us, or wrong with them, or just plain wrong in the life circumstance given to us, toward seeing what might be right.

It takes support to engage this new attention, an environment which allows us to feel safe enough to try new ways of being.

This is the beauty of an MBSR 8 week class, not a quick fix, but an opportunity to grow ourselves in a conducive environment, over time with practice, to create the lifestyle of Mind shifts for long-lasting changes that lead to our well-being.

MBSR is an Evidenced-Based Mindfulness Application developed by Jon Kabat Zinn

Utilized over the past 35 years to alleviate suffering and increase well-being. The MBSR program started in the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in 1979 and is now offered in over 200 medical centers, hospitals, and clinics around the world. The latest science research is continuing to validate the effectiveness of this program to make positive changes on all levels of Mind, Body, Heart, and Spirit. The most significant implications of MBSR research reveals biological changes toward increasing our longevity.

Research also shows us that with repeated focal attention we can change the very structure and function of our brains—this is known as neuroplasticity--our brain’s capacity to continually grow over a lifespan.

The question is: what are you focusing on?

With this class you can learn to change the habits of Mind and Re-Turn your attention to what will illuminate your wellness.

There will be Home Practice Assigned with guided audio between classes which are required for your participation—this is for you to be the final authority on the effectiveness of this program.
